Preparing for the 2015 Combine
The Pro Football Scouting Combine is a vital event for college players on their path to the draft. With more than 300 prospects participating in a quest to achieve their pro football dreams, the competition is fierce. Preparation for the Combine is critical for success. Herbalife, the official nutrition partner of Proactive Sports Performance, a state of the art institute that offers unparalleled sports performance training, helped a group of 14 elite college athletes prepare for the Combine.
Over the course of 5 weeks Herbalife provided individualized consultations to each athlete, teaching them about Herbalife24 products and general nutrition principals. “Our goal is to really help them use nutrition to set them apart from some of the other athletes that they’re going to be going up against at the combine,” says Dr. Dana Ryan, Herbalife manager of sports performance and education.
Feedback From Player
Max Williams, a tight end from Minnesota, considers the Combine to be the most important part of his football career thus far, putting him on stage in front of pro coaches and general managers. During his 5 weeks at Proactive he became aware of the critical impact that knowing what and when to eat can have on his performance.
Feedback From Coach
“Herbalife24 products give your body the chance to recover and come back for the next day,” says Williams. Ryan Capretta, Proactive Sports Performance founder and director, adds that “the Herbalife24 line is nice because it allows us some freedom to work with different types of athletes, really depending on what their specific goals are.” Though preparation for success at the Combine is the immediate focus, the ultimate goal is greater than that. Instead of having the athletes just take products during their time here, “It’s really about creating nutritional habits that can have an effect on their long-term career,” says Dr. Ryan.
Science shows that proper nutrition at the cellular level is at least as important to both health and athletic performance as strength training, cardiovascular training, and recovery time. In fact, it’s the foundation for everything else. When you’ve trained as hard as you can, supplementing your diet with nutrients designed specifically to boost muscle growth, recovery, circulation, energy efficiency, and resilience of muscle fibers and connective tissue make all the difference.
Nutrition at the cellular level is more than a protein shake or sugary drink sold by fizzy drinks company on the high street…
